Do you realize that these lines, besides some stage directions, are the only information the actors (and director) get. Most of the time the author of a play gives a brief character description… but Shakespeare did not do this. So how can you portrait a character with these complex lines, but such brief information? That is the exciting journey an actor experiences during rehearsals together with his/her fellow actors and the director.
In this course I am going to teach how to approach the lines in a script and motivate you to take the compelling journey of discovering the character behind these lines.
We will start with a little basic training in acting followed by rehearsing some simple dialogues in which we will evaluate the story, the character and the situation of the scene. Also we will see that a script can be performed in a thousand ways. That is why acting in theatre is so exciting.
In the final stage of this course we will rehearse a scene from a world famous play and perform this on the presentation evening.
