About the event
About the play:
Lysistrata, one of the most famous comedies of the Greco-Latin canon.
Written in the 4th century BC, shows us how the women of Greece, tired of the war between the sister cities of Athens and Sparta (Peloponnesian War) and commanded by Lysistrata devise a plan to achieve peace: never again having sexual relations with their husbands and confiscate the Acropolis of Athens which is where the Athenian government keeps the money to finance the war.
After many controversies and machista attitudes of Greek men, the women finally achieve the long-awaited peace. Lysistrata is the first heroine of Western theatre to achieve her goals.
With this comedy, Aristophanes, after 25 centuries, shows us that humans always we make the same mistakes. That is why Alles is Drama with this production aims to stage a plea in against the horrors of war and for feminism and all human rights.
