Spring 2026 course
Embodied Common Ground
Embodied Common Ground is a collaborative theatre course exploring how bodies, stories and
contradictions meet on stage. Drawing on the work of Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht and Hans-
Thies Lehmann, participants create performance from lived experience rather than a fixed script.
Through embodiment, storytelling and collective composition, the course asks: what do we have in
common, and how can we hold difference without resolving it?
The course is process-based, postdramatic and open to all levels.

About the director:
Khashayar Najafizadeh is a theatre-maker, filmmaker and researcher whose practice moves across
film, performance and artistic research, tracing the body as a site of memory, displacement and
desire. Rooted in theatre and reshaped through queer theory, their work uses embodied storytelling
to hold contradictions between intimacy and distance, visibility and erasure, longing and resistance.
At its core, their practice engages with queerness, displacement, heteronormativity and
decolonisation, asking how embodied histories unsettle dominant narratives and open space for
alternative modes of being. Working through archival research, embodied experimentation, site-
responsive processes and collaborative dialogue, they create spaces of inquiry and invention where
the body carries, resists and reimagines stories across personal, political and collective terrains.
