The Little Theatre of the 1920s with Alice Gerstenberg
We’re performing three one act plays from Alice Gerstenberg who pioneered the little theater movement in Chicago back in the 1910s and 20s. The movement aimed to move away from commercial theater and have it be more accessible especially to women - both acting wise and relatability wise. For this, Alice is considered both an activist and a feminist. Our directors want to follow in her footsteps with these accessible pieces that are both comedic and critical.
Accessibility
The theatre is not wheelchair accessible as there is one flight of stairs and gravel outside.
There is also no accessible toilet. There is no parking at the venue but there are nearby streets (3-5 minute walk away) that have free parking.
There are gender neutral bathrooms.
This production contains flashing lights and smoke
For those who have additional accessibility needs, we can accommodate some things like allowing you into the theatre early and providing a script for those who may need it, but please email us at contact@allesisdrama.com if these are required or if you would like any additional information.
