We will work on different scenes from Edward Albee’s plays.

I want to explore the playability of the characters in his plays with you. How do you make them lively, how do they cope with their actions, how do you, for example, make someone who is in love with a goat, a genuine character? This exploring we will do on the basis of using one of Albee’s plays for a couple of course days in a row. When it’s time to move on, we will choose the next play. For the first weeks, I want to work on ‘The Goat or who is Sylvia?’ We will start with a reading of the play, talking about its theme’s and then choose scene’s, make groups (with max 4 people per scene) and play these scenes out. In your rooms, behind laptops, and explore what tools you’ll need as an actor to build a character. When you’re not playing, you’re still watching fellow group members to see what they’re doing and learn from them or give them feedback.

What I hope you’ll bring: willingness, an open stance to others, and an attentive eye for the subject.

What I hope you’ll get: fun for playing, new ways to build a character and make this character believable, knowledge on Albee’s plays, making use of musicality in a dialogue, trusting and believe for the character.
