La Famiglia, an evening about the whole family (working title) by Merijn Krol
Do you sometimes miss your family? Are you glad they're not around all the time anymore now you're studying? Are they still a big part of your lives or have you found a new family amongst your friends and housemates? (And if yes, what would your role be in that new context?) Do you like to sing or play a musical instrument?
If you can answer at least some of these questions with a yes, La Famiglia might be the play for you.
In the coming months, we're going to find and perform songs about families. Brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, and feeling home. About how you love them, how you hate them, how they act when they think nobody is watching, etc. Any song can be included in any language as long as there is a story that accompanies it.
There will be singing in groups, there probably will be some comical interludes and I hope there will be a lot of personal stories about your own families.
Auditions will be Monday the 11th of September and for these auditions, you should prepare one song that's somehow about family (max 3 minutes) and try to find the music for it. (Be it on a cd or just the chords.) If you can accompany yourself that will count as a plus in my book. If you want me to accompany you on the piano, make sure I know which song you want to sing before Friday night and get me the sheet music or the chords.
If you're not interested in singing or acting yourself, but if you do play an instrument and would like to accompany the play, you can also apply and ask the board or me about it. I hope the performance in March can be accompanied by live music.
