Course description:

This course will focus on developing well-rounded, authentic characters that come to life on stage. We will cover characters from every angle, from dialogue and backstory to character arcs and quirks and everything in between! We will examine written work through different lenses of archetypes, themes and plot, as well as exploring everything there is to know about creating and developing your own characters. Throughout the duration of the course, you will work to develop a monologue for a character of your own creation,and will get to experience the wonders of seeing them come to life in front of you on stage in front of an audience!

About the Director:

Jonathan Shortall is an experienced playwright, director and recovering lawyer. He has been writing for theatre for over ten years and has had plays staged across his native Ireland, in some of its most prestigious theatres. He is an experienced educator, having thought ranges of students in writing for stage from fresh beginners to experienced hacks.
