Course description:

The course I will teach will be called 'Live Online Performance' OR 'Performative Film Making', according to the student's wishes. In times of corona, more and more performance artists are forced to move their artistic practice from the live physical world to the online world. The course will explore the basic ways and techniques in which this can be realised, working from the curiosity and inspirations of the students. Should there not be enough animo for online live performance, the course can take the direction of performative film making (not live), in which we will explore the ways in which one can make an interdisciplinary film, using both the live and physical power of performance (in esthetics mostly) and the escapism of cinema.

About the director:

Manuel Groothuysen (1997) is a Dutch/Iranian interdisciplinary performance artist, currently studying at the Theatre Academy of Maastricht, in his 3rd year of the Performance-program. His work often foregrounds existentialist themes (such as the absence or presence of free will), working from audio and the voice, but also the body and the image.
