Course description:

In this course, you will explore the power movement and voice in musical theatre. Dance is movement, strength, expression, creation. Music is the vibration of our breath in poetry. You will be bringing attention to the movement of your body and learn to feel what arises when moving in space. We will play and release our empowering creative imagination through music and dance; get to know and use our body in space; feel our breath and practice choreographic phrases; give space to dramatic play, emotions, physical sensations and thoughts that appear when moving, singing and creating. We will work as a creative force and study musical pieces as an ensemble.

Amalia Herrera has been working in the creation and research of movement for more than 25 years. After an education and master’s degree in performing arts in Brazil, Amalia developed a career in contemporary dance and theater collaborating with various international choreographers in Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Quito, Hasselt, and Maastricht
